Senior Syndicate Sports Person

In Term 2 an opportunity came up for me to take over the role of sport leader for the senior syndicate. This was a huge step for me as this will be the first time I have led a curriculum area.

We (Principal, Junior Sport Leader and myself) had our first Sports meeting yesterday with Sport Auckland. We created our plan for the term and I look forward to implementing and guiding the team I’m a part of in this area.

I attended the Manaiakalani Sports meeting which has helped me to gain a clearer perspective around the organisation of PE in a school and how inter school sporting competitions run. Following on from this meeting I made contact with our Kelly Sports manager to organise the rotations of lessons for the senior syndicate for Term 3.

I look forward to this new journey and the new learning I have ahead of me. My next step is to pay close attention to date deadlines so that we are in the position of being able to choose coaching times that work best for our school, and we don’t miss out on inter school team registrations.

DFI - External Recognition

Reflection:

As a part of DFI we had the option to undertake a Google Educator Level 1 certification. I was fairly confident but still nervous to do this. The exam was pretty straightforward and although there were some questions I didn't understand as it is an American based exam, I used the keywords to answer them.

I completed the exam and was happy to see I passed and I am now a Google Certified Educator.

Going forward I am going to be using my blog to continue blogging my personal development. By allowing time at DFI to write blogs, I have become more in tune with using my blog. I have found myself going "oh I can put this on my blog" a lot more nowadays. This is great to show my personal development as a beginning teacher. This will be a great record of my development over the next few years.

The way my blog is set up, is to include all of the necessary aspects for being a beginning teacher. These labels and tags will change as I progress further into my teaching career.

DFI Course Reflection:

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at DFI these past 9 weeks. I have learnt so much and have found a passion for digital technology. I was not expecting the capabilities that Google allows via their platform. This is also forever updating and changing to the times, which is fantastic.

I don't think anything needs to be changed to the DFI course. It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to be a part of it.
